Prof. Steve Everett (Music) talks about his upcoming class MUS 470 (Harmonic Experience: Metaphysics and Music), which features Robert Spano, Emory University Distinguished Artist in Residence and music director of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. The course will engage in a historical exploration of the changing perceptions and extra-musical relationships of music in Western culture with emphasis on its philosophic, theoretical, mathematical, and cosmological foundations. Guest lecturers include Peter Hoeyng (German Studies), Paul Lennard (Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology), Andrew Mitchell (Philosophy), Stephen Crist (Music), Kevin Karnes (Music) and William Ransom (Music).
